Streaker makes an impression at homecoming
On Saturday at halftime of Tam football’s homecoming game, the genitalia and bare chest of senior Arthur Richardson was fully on display.
Wearing nothing but a hat and a bandana on his head, Richardson ran the entire length of the football field with assistant principal Corbett Elsen running after him. Elson, who attended Northwestern University on a football scholarship, caught Richardson as he was trying to jump the fence.
“I wasn’t completely disgusted, I actually thought it was pretty funny,” said senior Ben Harris.
“I thought it was super funny, my mom even liked it,” said junior Taylor Will.
However, in the eyes of the law, public nudity is frowned upon, and serious charges can be pressed. In June 2004, world renowned British streaker Mark Roberts was barred further entry into the United States and given a $1,000 fine for trespassing after streaking in the second half of Super Bowl XXXVIII. While no legal charges have been pressed against, Richardson was suspended for three days and will now have the incident on his permanent record that goes out to colleges and universities.
Despite its popularity around the world, few have the determination and pluck to actually commit to running naked in a highly publicized setting. Richardson’s answer to what it took to actually perform his half-time streak was surprisingly simple.
“I took off all my clothes and I was like, ‘What am I doing?’ And then I ran,” said Richardson. When asked why he did it, the answer was still as clear as day, “It had to be done,” Richardson said.
Just like Roberts, Richardson has had to face the consequences of his actions. Overall, he has stated that he feels no regrets and has mostly received support from the student body and even parents, but no one can consciously take off their clothes and not escape some criticism and ridicule.
“I emailed Mr. Chamberlin and asked if I could to talk about a letter of recommendation and he said, ‘Yeah, that would be great—just wear clothes,” said Richardson.

On January 21, freshman Sander Lutz won Tam High’s Poetry Out Loud competition. The first runner-up, sophomore Nicolas Sullivan-Friedman, will represent Tam at the Poetry Out Loud County Finals at the Throckmorton Theater on February 6.
Tam’s Winter Formal is scheduled for February 27. Tickets go on sale between February 8 and 24 in the Budget Office. Tickets are $30 with an ASB card, $35 without. On February 2 prices will go up to $35 with ASB $40 without.
The California State Summer School for the Arts (INNERSPARK) is looking for high school students who are talented visual, literary, media and performing artists. Those selected will participate in a four-week summer program in which they will learn directly from professional artists, writers and performers of national stature. More information is available at the College and Career Center.
Link Crew is hosting a movie night for freshmen on February 5. Movie possiblities include “The Italian Job,” “Star Trek,” “Juno,” and “Mean Girls.” See the show at 8 pm.
Tam music students will present an evening of solo and small ensemble performances. Come on February 10 at 7pm to see the Solo and Ensemble Concert in the Caldwell Theater.
The rumors are true, after many years in business Mill Valley’s beloved Video Haven, formally known as Video Droid will live no more as of February 2.
