Jersey Shore becomes America's guilty pleasure
Classy and sophisticated aren’t two words that come to mind when watching MTV’s new reality show “Jersey Shore.” Featuring a cast of New Yorkers and one Rhode Island native all in their twenties, “Jersey Shore” brings fake tans and bulging muscles to an all new level.
The show captures the stereotypes of New Jersey natives perfectly. The show’s producers chose a cast of loud, tan and fake Italians, who aren’t even from Jersey.
One of the most entertaining features of the show is the nicknames the cast members go by. The characters of the “Jersey Shore” were not given nicknames; instead they came with them.
Even if you haven’t seen the “Jersey Shore,” you’ve probably heard of “The Situation.” Mike calls himself The Situation because, “My abs are so ripped up… we call it The Situation.” The Situation is a real lady’s man. In Episode 8, we see him conducting a “robbery” (the term used for when one man steal’s another’s girl). “You better grab your girl tight when I’m around, ‘cause I know she’s grillin’ me,” says The Situation.
“Jersey Shore” is a show filled with fake tans, over-sized muscles, excessive hair gel, and budding romances. The Situation sums it up perfectly when he describes his daily routine, “G.T.L. baby. Gym, Tanning, Laundry.” Next time you don’t know what to do, grab your remote and check MTV to see if there are any new episodes of the “Jersey Shore.” Each episode is as delightful as the next, and it brings the idea of “fist pumping” (a popular form of dance on the Shore) to life. Don’t miss out.
